You know those super soft, kind of thick, fluffy, sugar cookies you can buy at the grocery store? Well, these Soft Batch Valentine’s Day Sugar Cookies are like that, but BETTER . They’re easy to make, because of a simple, secret ingredient that makes all the difference.
Sour cream..baby! It makes these cookies so dreamy!
I’m making these for Valentine’s Day so I’m using heart cookie cutters, and festive sprinkles. You could also use this batter as the basis for whatever holiday you’re celebrating!

Soft Batch Valentine’s Day Sugar Cookies
Start with a large bowl, add your dry ingredients (Flour, Cornstarch, Baking Powder, Salt, and Sugar). Next, combine the wet ingredients into the same bowl. Add the Vanilla Extract, Almond Extract, Egg, Butter, and Sour cream. Mix well until there are no lumps.
Transfer the batter into saran wrap. Place in the fridge overnight or freezer for about four hours to chill.
Once the dough is close to being chilled, preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Place a piece of parchment paper on a cookie sheet.
Using a floured surface, roll out the dough. It should be about an inch thick. Use cookie cutters to cut your desired shapes into the dough. I’m using hearts, remember the cookies will expand as they bake. I actually used a fairly small heart to achieve these fluffy cookies!

Bake time is about 10-13 minutes, just keep an eye on them . When you start to notice the bottom is a golden brown it’s safe to say they are ready, but you can use the good old toothpick trick if necessary.

As soon as you remove them from the oven, transfer them to a cookie rack to cool. Otherwise they’ll continue to bake on the cookie sheet. Let cool completely before decorating!

Vanilla Buttercream Frosting
Now that the cookies are cooling it is the perfect time to make your frosting! This is a simple Buttercream. Combine a 1/2 cup of unsalted butter, 1 tbsp vanilla extract, 2 cups of confectioner’s sugar, and 2 Tbsp of Vanilla Coffee Creamer (You can also use milk or half and half). Blend well in the mixer.

After frosting the cookies, decorate with sprinkles!
