If you ask me, Watermelon is the quintessential summer fruit. So, I plan to use it anything I can think of this summer. Let’s be real most of us love watermelon because it’s refreshing and delicious. But, did you know it’s also really good for you? And not just because it helps hydrate you!
It’s also high in vitamins and nutrients. Just to name a few..Potassium, Lycopene, & Vitamin C. Some of my favorites, they help with all sorts of things:
Vitamin C – Also found in Guava, Red Peppers, Kale, Oranges,etc. It can help naturally slow aging, and promotes healthy skin, improves mineral absorption, and fights off colds & flus.
Lycopene – It’s one of the most powerful antioxidants. It’s commonly found in Tomatoes and Carrots. It’s good for your skin & bones. It can help with prostate issues, helps keep your brain healthy, and improves your heart health! It can also help prevent cancers and protect against free radicals.
Potassium – It acts as an electrolyte and helps improve overall health. It can help boost metabolism, stimulate neural activity, and boosts heart health! In addition to watermelon, it can be found in Avocados, Spinach, Bananas, and so much more!
I know, as if you needed another reason to consume ‘all the watermelon’ this summer. It’s always nice to know though, and the first thing on my list are these Juicy Watermelon Daiquiris.
They are composed of fresh Watermelon, Lime Juice, and Captain Morgan Watermelon Smash Rum.
Have you had Captain Morgan Watermelon Smash Rum? It’s so juicy and delicious. It’s authentic watermelon taste is luscious. If you like rum and fruit-centric drinks its a must. It’s amazing chilled as a shot and really good in lemonade as well!
Composing the Watermelon Daiquiris
You’ll want to start with 1/4 of a seedless watermelon. Remove it from the rind. Place it in the blender . After you blend it once , try to get rid of some of the pulp, by holding a strainer over a large bowl. Carefully pour your pureed watermelon into the bowl. This should seperate the little bit of pulp and any white seeds that might still be present. Next, freeze the puree for a few hours until it’s just slightly on the verge of solid, still slushy. Remove it from the freezer and add it to the blender. Add your Rum, Lime Juice, and Brown Sugar. Add about a cup of ice. Blend until smooth and get ready to enjoy!
Cut your watermelon away from the rind. Add it to the blender. Blend well! Place a strainer over a large bowl, carefully pour the puree into the bowl. Straining out any leftover seeds or pulp. Freeze the watermelon puree until it reaches a slushy texture, just under solid. Add your rum, lime juice, brown sugar, and watermelon slush into blender. Also add about a cup of ice. Blend until smooth and slushy!Watermelon Daiquiris
